At Harding’s, we care about the environment and the impact that our left over paint has on it. You will be happy top hear that all of Harding’s left over paint materials are recycled through the Alberta Recycling Program in conjunction with Clean Harbors and The City of Calgary. Today’s video gives some insight into what happens to that paint once it has entered the recycling program and how it is recycled.  We are very appreciative of the people involved who host this monthly event so companies like our can recycle our paint safely and efficiently.

Here are some details on how and when you can get involved as a commercial painter:

Year-Round Recycling Options Check the Recycling Depot Finder to see if your local municipal paint collection site will accept from commercial generators. Contact one of the Registered Paint Processors to arrange for pickup of your paint material or if you want to drop off your paint material directly at one of their sites. Edmonton In Edmonton, commercial generators can recycle their paint material at the Edmonton Waste Management Centre. Please click here for details regarding the location and drop-off instructions. Calgary In Calgary, please contact EnviroSORT Inc. at 1-800-567-4209 (ext. 100), as this company has a contract with the City to provide paint recycling services for Calgary businesses. The City of Calgary holds regularly scheduled commercial paint roundups for commercial painting businesses to safely dispose of their leftover volumes of paint. The last Tuesday of every month. The events will be held at Shepard Waste Management Facility from 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Commercial painting businesses can also contact one of the current registered paint processors in Alberta to discuss pickup of your leftover paint. Charges may apply. Commercial volumes of paint are too large to be accepted at the household hazardous waste drop-off locations or Throw n’ Go areas at City landfills, and will not be accepted. When you drop off paint during a commercial paint roundup event, please be aware of the following requirements: Do not bring any type of hazardous waste. Only qualified paint and paint containers approved under Alberta’s Paint Recycling Program are acceptable. All paint containers must be sealed. You will be required to unload all paint materials yourself. Any unacceptable materials, including hazardous waste, will be returned to you. These materials are not accepted at household hazardous waste drop-off locations or the Thrown’ Go area at Shepard Landfill. Please check the Alberta Recycling Hotline or call 1-800-463-6326 to properly dispose of these materials.
